Introduction to the Raheem Residency
Lonely Planet complimented Raheem Residency saying that it was the only top end place in Alleppey worth considering. Raheem Residency rightfully deserves this accolade. Formerly the private residence of Mr. Raheem, it has been converted to a heritage resort fairly recently. Within eighteen months of its conversion, Resort Raheem Residency was recognized by the Government of India as a genuine heritage hotel of India. All this is proof enough of the fact that it is indeed a fabulous place to live in.
Accommodation at the Raheem Residency
Located beside an unexplored beach, the building is a colonial villa that dates back to 1868. There are six air conditioned rooms in the main building. The rooms are very elegantly furnished with antique furniture. These air conditioned rooms have attached bathrooms and are provided with all modem amenities that ensure ease and comfort.
One will be amazed to know that what was previously the store houses for coconuts has now been renovated and are rented as Superior Twin Rooms. These rooms lie at a distance from the main building but are equally comfortable to live in.
Dining at the Raheem Residency
Chakara, the restaurant of Raheem Residency has already made a name for itself among the gourmets of the town. You can come in for an exotic dinner even if you choose not to stay here. The spicy curries made with the freshest of fish are absolutely delicious and vintage Alleppey. Authentic Keralian cuisine is its forte but you can also choose from amongst the Chinese and Continental dishes if they satisfy your palate. An added attraction is the lovely view of the sea that one gets from the restaurant.
Other Facilities at the Raheem Residency
The swimming pool of Raheem Residency is a great place to relax and unwind. Imported from France, the pool has been named Apple Pool after the apple tree in the courtyard adjacent to the pool.
The outdoor space of this heritage resort is just perfect for relaxation. It is provided with hammocks and garden furniture.
Book lovers can choose from among the rich collection of books housed in the library of Raheem Residency. When it is not the peak season for tourists, rooms are rented at concessional rates to writers. However they have to stay here for a minimum of two weeks. The tranquil ambience is ideal for the composition of any literary piece.
